We must never forget how we grieved as a nation, how we were all proud to be Americans and fly the flag, how prayer became a high priority in our lives.

But as you remember 9/11 -- where you were, what you felt -- we must not forget or overlook the most important lesson of that day... WE CANNOT TAKE LIFE FOR GRANTED. You never know which day is your last, so hug your kids (hard and often), hold your spouse's hand "just because," call your mother, reconnect with an old friend. All simple gestures, but always the biggest regrets to the people involved in any tragedy.

Sure, we could obsess about 9/11--the what if's, the could have beens--but nothing will change or improve the situation. See, death is a part of life no one can control, but we can say "I love you" anytime we want.

A few weeks after I got married, my husband and I moved to Washington state. It was the first time I was ever away from home. I had lived at home through college and even though I eventually moved into my own place, I was always just a 10 minute drive away from Mom and Dad. Now I was hundreds of miles away from home and everything familiar.

I didn't know anyone in Washington and so the phone became my lifeline. This was before the day of unlimited calling plans, Skype, mobile chats and cell phones, so our monthly phone bills were pretty hefty. But, my sweet husband knew that a large phone bill was less expensive than flying me home every couple of weeks. That time on the phone became precious and I realized that I never knew when--or if--I would get to talk to Mom and Dad again, so I resolved never again to hang up the phone without saying "I love you" to the special people in my life. That still holds true today even though we're back to living just a few minutes apart. I don't want to take life for granted.

My hope on this 9/11 anniversary is that for every moment we are reminded of all we lost 10 years ago, that we give a hug or an "I love you" to those still here. Let's celebrate the life--although not always perfect--we are so blessed to have. If we celebrate in the face of tragedy, we'll show the world what it means to live in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

If You Could See Me Now

R.I. I know you have, too. So that got me to thinking about suffering. As I started going through scriptures, I realized that God has a lot to say about it, too.
“When you walk through the valley, I will be there.” Did you catch that? When, not if, so there will be valleys in our lives. After all, it’s the very difficult things in our lives that God often uses to remind us that He is near. If there were no suffering, would we know what true joy is? The Apostle Paul got it when he said, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18)
Paul was a person, who for the sake of Christ, suffered. He also asked the Lord to remove the thorn that afflicted him, and three times God told Paul that His grace was enough to help Paul through the pain and suffering. God didn’t leave the thorn because he was mad at Paul, but because in Paul’s weakness, God’s strength was able to shine forth. That’s why Paul was able to say, “Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12)
God’s grace is enough because He has said He would share in the fellowship of our suffering. That’s a pretty heavy revelation. I think we all come to a point in life when, after having followed the detour signs on life’s journey for a while, we suddenly realize that the detour is the road that God had for us to follow all along. God remains faithful even when things don’t turn out the way we expected them to. We just have to be willing to offer complete surrender to God’s plans knowing that while we may bend, He won’t allow us to break.
I think that’s why the song “Blessings” by Laura Story speaks to me so deeply. She asks God, “What if the trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise?” I’ve attached a link to the song below. I hope it ministers to you and challenges your way of thinking about suffering and about God’s blessings. The pain and suffering in this life only remind our hearts that this is not our home. “And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:2-4) We have HOPE… His name is Jesus.

“Blessings” by Laura Story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMeFzFUbmJo&feature=related

Crossroads Ministries USA
P.O. Open our eyes and ears in the spiritual realm on behalf of Crossroad Ministry and all of those involved in it. Give us Your insight and battle plan to war against the spiritual forces that are or may try to stop the purpose and call of this ministry and its people. Remind us daily that the weapons of our warfare are not physical, but mighty for the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor. 10:3-5). We choose to lay down every proud and lofty thought of our own and submit to your spirit alone. We align with God and use the Word of God to defeat our enemies. We will overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. (Rev. 12:11) Likewise, lift my presence be known in the camp of my enemies. Let my arrival and presence in the spiritual world that we enter by prayer cause all my enemies to tremble and flee in fear of the mighty name of Jesus. Instead of being overcome, we shall overcome. Victorious, not looking at circumstance, but at God. We will fulfill the destiny You have ordained since before the beginning of time. (Jer. 29:11) “…For I know the plans I have for you, plans to give you hope and a future…” We are led by the Spirit of the living God that resides within us. The promised word is yes and amen; therefore we declare with great boldness and confidence that we are set free from all infirmity and refuse to tolerate the curse of sickness and all its varying symptoms. Thank you that we can stand in the power and authority, in the name of your precious son, Jesus Christ, and do even greater works than Jesus because He chose to die so that His Spirit could remain in us as our power, authority, advocate, comforter, guide, and ever present help in time of trouble.
Thank you, Jesus, that we can come in Your name and cut off all demonic assignments that have been made against us. Satan, according to Mathew 18:18, you and all your demons are bound from not only Crossroads Ministry, but also our bodies, our minds, our position, our families, homes, and finances--individually and corporately. Father, thank you for rebuking Satan and assigning angels to bring to no effect all confusion, division, anger, wrath, criticism, condemnation, pride, envy, gossip, slander, murder, evil speaking, complaining, lying, false teaching, negative words, hindering, retaliation, deceiving, religious, occult, or spirits of witchcraft.
Thank you for giving us wisdom, knowledge, insight, understanding, and discernment that we may do the works of righteousness through your Son. It is promised, “Ask and you shall receive”!
* Your Bible is the confirmation of His word.
When nothing else comes to mind, thank and praise God for what He has shown you, knowing that from Him and through Him are all things… To God be the glory!

August 13

Pray for favor:

Proverbs 3:4-8, 13, 17, 19, 21: “4. Father, show them your heart. Show them the need. Lead and guide them to be shepherds of your aging sheep. This we ask in Jesus name. Amen.

PRAISE
We are so thankful churches --like Woodmen Valley, Academy Christian, Mountain Springs and Church for all Nations--that have adopted care centers and now provide Bible studies, music ministry and Sunday services.

August 3: Prayer for our City

Acts 7:33 “Then said the Lord to him, Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where you stand is holy ground.”
Matthew 5:14-16 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid, neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

PRAYER
Father, give us this city as a holy city, set apart for You and Your works. We declare that You are Lord and that everywhere we set our feet is won for the Gospel, and is set apart as holy ground in Jesus name. We declare and decree that we are a city set apart as a light to the world; that our light will shine before all men, that they may see our good works and glorify the Father in Heaven.

PRAISE
Thank you, Lord, for all the Christian ministries we have here in Colorado Springs. They are an example for other businesses in our city.

August 4: Prayer for our Leaders

John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye the branches: He that abides in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”
Daniel 12:3 “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars forever and ever.”

PRAYER
Father, we call in Godly leaders; that You open doors that no man can shut, and shut doors no man can open specifically on behalf of the aged and their provision and protection. Set men in authority that use Your authority, King Jesus, and that even those who do not know You will still follow Your wisdom and integrity on behalf of Your people. We pray laborers to come across their path and show them You, Your character and nature. That they accept You as their Lord and Savior and many will turn to righteousness.

PRAISE
We are thankful for men and women who are not willing to compromise their stand on godly issues just for power or position. Support those leaders that work for issues like preserving the family and the sanctity of human life.

August 5: Prayer for our Nation:

Ex. 19:6: And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shall speak unto the children of Israel.
1 Peter 2:9: But ye a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Psalm 119:11:Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

PRAYER
Lord, we declare this Nation a Holy Nation set apart to meet the needs of the elderly, to serve, honor and protect them by the power of the word Of God, and authority of Jesus Name. Let your glorious light shine on the value You have in all Your people, and leaders will rise up in Your boldness to take a stand for what’s right and just, and we give You all the praise in advance for what we are uniting in prayer, as we stand on Your promises, Your word, Your heart, Your character, and Your nature, Your word is hidden in our heart that we, as a nation, will not sin against You.

PRAISE
Praise God as people are realizing they can’t make it on their own and need Him to direct and guide them. We are on the verge of something amazing in the church; especially in relation to our country and its leadership.

August 6: Chaplains

PRAYER
Abba Father we thank You for every chaplain set in position to be ministers of Your love, Your Word and using the authority given to them through Your Son, Jesus, to lead, protect and defend the people in their care. Help them to see as You see, hear as You hear, touch as You touch, and love as You love. Thank you, Abba Father. Amen.

PRAISE
We are encouraged by the number of people requesting information regarding the Crossroads School of Chaplaincy. Applications are coming in from men and women who are answering the call of God on their lives to minister to those living in care centers.

Volunteer IT Person Needed

IT person(s) needed on a volunteer basis to help manage website (PC-based) and/or provide technical support. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

PRAYER
Father we pray for strength and encouragement for Anita, Sandra, Jessica and Linda. That they would have the needs and desires in their lives meet and the overflow goes out to the work of the ministry. We declare that they have the mind of Christ and Your insight and wisdom. We pray that everything they put their hands to will prosper. In Jesus name, Amen.

PRAISE
We are so appreciative of the volunteers who give of their time in the office making phone calls, copies, collating workbooks and even dusting and vacuuming like Judy C. and Alice J.

Day 12: July 16
Prayer for the upcoming board meeting

PRAYER
Almighty God, we ask Your Spirit and guidance would be present during the Board meeting. That you would speak to through those you have placed as wise counselors and that nothing be done within the ministry that is not led by You. We believe You are opening doors no man can shut, and shutting doors no man can open to promote Your good work to go forth. May everything their hands touch prosper and everywhere their feet go be won for the Gospel. We give You all the glory praise and honor for the testimonies that will come out of our trusting You. Your favor goes before each and every one of them and the Spirit of the living God is their real guard. In Jesus name, Amen.

PRAISE
We praise the Lord for the amazing group of godly men and women He has called to be on the Board of Directors. Kay and Jerry rely on their expertise and input greatly. Their evident love for this ministry and the elderly is a blessing.

Day 13: July 19
Prayer for our Directors

PRAYER
Father, we thank You for these special men and women of God; that they are lead by Your spirit and have Your wisdom and knowledge. We pray a double anointing on their lives, that Your wisdom and knowledge flows to them and through them supernaturally. Give them special favor as they speak to their churches about Crossroads Ministries and allow them to reap a great harvest of volunteers to minister in the care centers. May they be blessed in their coming in and their going out. In the name of the anointed, risen Jesus. Amen.

PRAISE
We are so thankful for the wonderful work the Directors do as our liaisons to the local churches. They spread the word about Crossroads Ministires and keep their churches updated on training classes and upcoming events. Pray the Lord raise up a Director for every church in the city!

Day 14: July 20
Prayer for our National Growth Administrators

PRAYER
Loving Father, we know You want only good things for Your people. And we praise You for bringing along side Kay and Jerry visionaries with experience in growing a ministry and making it more effective. We ask that each step we take toward growth would be in Your will and following Your leading. We don’t ever want to get ahead of You and the plans You have for Crossroads Ministries, but we also don’t want to lag behind and become ineffective. There is too much to do for Your kingdom! Find us faithful. In the matchless name of Jesus, we ask. Amen.

PRAISE
We continue to hear from care centers asking for people to visit the residents. We also continue to hear from individuals who want to know how they can take the work of Crossroads Ministries to their communities.

Day 15: July 21
Prayer for our champion donors:

PRAYER
Father, we pray in the mighty name of Jesus that everything they put their hand to will prosper. We put our faith together that the blessing they are to this ministry be returned to them pressed down, shaken together and running over. Father, we pray prosperity over them, first and foremost that they prosper in intimate fellowship with You, themselves and others; and that they are prosperous in health, as well as prosperous in the financial realm. In Jesus name, Amen.

PRAISE
We thank the Lord for every financial donation and for those who donate of their time, service and gifts, too. God continues to provide for our every need.

Day 16: July 22
Prayer for the Chaplains

Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.”
Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
2 Timothy 1:9 “Who hath saved us, and called with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”
Psalm 37: 23 “The steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord”
Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.”
2 Timothy 1:9 “Who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our words, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.”

PRAYER
Heavenly Father we come boldly to the throne of grace asking that each and every chaplain in Crossroads Ministries see Your hurting people with Your eyes; that they be Your hands because they have Your heart and are called according to Your purpose. Allow them to make a difference for eternity in the lives of all they come in contact with in the care centers. I pray that Your power be used for the breaking of strong holds and setting the captive free. For all power and authority is in the name of your son, Jesus. Amen.

PRAISE
Thank you, Father, for the recent graduating class of chaplains. We look forward with great anticipation to the new crop of students that will be beginning Chaplaincy School in the fall.

Day 17: July 23
Prayer for potential chaplains

2 Timothy 1: 5 “I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois, and your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.”

PRAYER
Father God, we call in from the north, south, east and the west every person you would call into chaplaincy school. Set them apart for such a time as this; that they may be raised up, set apart and sanctified for this calling. Raise up mighty warriors of the King to be strong in the power of His might and to hear the call of our Heavenly Father. Amen.

PRAISE
We are so grateful for the men and women who not only hear the call of God on their lives, but follow His leading to be used for His kingdom.

Day 18: July 26
Prayer for the Champion Volunteers

1 Thessalonians 1:3 “Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;”
Hebrew 6:10 “For God not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
1 Thessalonians 1:3 “Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father.”
Hebrews 6:10 “for God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

PRAYER
Precious Jesus, we give honor and thanks for those who volunteer to be used of you in this ministry. We ask that all the labor of their love, service, and devotion be rewarded by You. Show them the needs of Your people as they come along side the residents. Thank you for allowing them to work in conjunction with the other ministers; relieving the stress of much work and helping make the burden light—for the mission field is ripe, and the laborers are few. Bless our volunteers in every way we pray, oh Lord, that they be revived by the spirit of the Living God within them as they volunteer. Amen.

PRAISE
We are so blessed to have such a wonderful group of volunteers. They are the face of Crossroads Ministries to our communities’ care centers and residents. They are the hands and feet of Jesus.

Day 19: July 27
Prayer for the Staff of the Care Centers

John 13: 14, 15 “ And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed you feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.”

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, we join our faith together on behalf of all the staff of the care centers and command in the authority of Jesus that every strong hold be broken that would try to raise up its ugly head against those that minister to the residence and over the well being of the residence themselves. We call their spiritual eyes to be opened to the needs and that they have willing hearts to do what needs to be done in the natural. Father, we call in salvation for any who are lost, that they come to a saving knowledge of You. By grace and faith in You we speak Your favor into each and every situation. In Jesus name. Amen.

PRAISE
We praise the Lord for the ministry we see taking place in the care center staff. Lives are being changed there, too.

Day 20: July 28
Prayer for the Skilled Care Centers

Philippians 1:19-20: “For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.”

PRAYER
Lord, we lift up the 20 skilled care centers (formerly known as nursing homes) in Colorado including Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Canyon City, Del Norte and Longmont, as well as centers in Phoenix, AZ and Hutchinson, KS where we currently have volunteers and chaplains working for Your cause. Provide for their financial needs and allow them to continue to give favor to your children as they go in and minister to the elderly. Amen.

PRAISE
It’s heartwarming to hear the joy in the voice of an activity director that finds out that someone wants to volunteer in their care center. They are so blessed by the sacrificial giving of God’s people.

Day 21: July 29
Prayer for the Residents

Psalm 63:3, 4 “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live and in your name I will lift up my hands.”

PRAYER
Loving, merciful, almighty God, we stand in the gap for each and every resident of the care centers, both present and future; that they all find help in the time of trouble. We pray they grow to know and trust You more and more. We call their spirits to attention to receive all that Jesus has provided on the cross. We pray Your knowledge and wisdom to the doctors and all those who influence their lives. For any and every one of them that do not know You, we pray that they come to a saving knowledge of You and are set apart. We ask for Your kingdom come; your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

PRAISE
Every day we hear reports of how God is moving in the care centers. Souls are being saved, bodies are being healed, lives are being changes. May God be praised.

Day 22: July 30
Prayer for our Prayer Warriors

Matthew 12:21 “And his name will be the hope of all the world.”

PRAYER
Father, we pray they pray with all boldness, power, and authority; as they see the needs of Your people in the spirit. That all intercession be made through the heart of the Father, and their labors be not in vain, but mighty in the pulling down of strong holds.

PRAISE
We’re thankful for YOU! Because you receive this prayer and praise report, we know that you have a love for this ministry that drives You to Your knees on our behalf. Prayer is our life line.

July 2010
Dear Crossroads Ministries Prayer Partners and Friends;

Thank you for your continued prayer support on behalf of Crossroads Ministries. I wanted you to be the first to know about some changes we’ve made on how we’ll communicate our prayer needs and praise reports. For almost a year, we’ve had our blog—Conversations With Crossroads—up and running. It’s been a place where we have posted information and updates and now we will be using it to communicate prayer requests and praise reports. The blog will not replace the current Prayer and Praise Report email you currently receive, but rather will be another place to access this information. Our intent is to update this site bi-weekly with praise and prayer requests, helping to keep you more current on the needs of the ministry and also a place for you to share your prayer requests and victories. You can log onto the blog at www.conversationswithcrossroads.blogspot.com or click on this link and then save it in your favorites or bookmark it on your computer for easy access.

I have recently accepted the position of National Prayer Coordinator for Crossroads Ministry, and it is my privileged to be joining with you in prayer for any needs you may have, as well as standing in agreement for the needs of Crossroads. Where one can put a thousand to flight two can put ten thousand to flight (Deuteronomy 31:30), for the pulling down of strongholds that try to suppress not only our lives, but effect our calling and positions for the Kingdom. As we unite together in the Lord, we become His Mighty Army; not merely standing ground, but taking ground in the spirit realm. Let’s join forces and storm the gates of hell. We are victorious Jesus Name!

As you share your prayer requests, please be sure to include your praise reports as well. They are a vital part of our lives, giving praise to Almighty God, and the power behind our testimony. As we pray our focus will be intentional, strategic, and specific--using the power of the Word of God--and in the power of the name of Jesus. I look forward to sharing all that God is doing in answer to your prayers!

Sincerely,
Chaplain Linda Kaye Nicholls
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 1 – July 1
Warfare prayer:

2 Corinthians 10:3-5: “3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4. (For the weapons of our warfare not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
Revelation 12:11: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
Jeremiah 29:11: “And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:”
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, We come boldly to Your throne of grace and declare and decree the power and authority You have given to us through the name of Your son, the anointed raised Jesus. Amen.

PRAISE:
It’s so amazing to think that we can stop at anytime, anywhere and for any reason and pray. We are so thankful for you, our prayer partners, and the power your effectual prayer brings.

Day 2 – July 2
Prayer for the men in our lives:

Acts 13:22: “And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will.”

PRAYER:
Lord, we pray that you continue to raise up a mighty army of spirit-filled men, passionate for Jesus Christ and passionate for their families. That they will be initiators, leaders, warriors, sacrificial lovers, protectors, providers, defenders of Biblical truth, as well as defenders of their families and sphere of influence, men who are strong in the Lord and the power of His might. Amen.

PRAISE:
We praise the Lord for strong leadership among our volunteers like Richard and Mary W., who alongside Lon A. and other men of valor, who lead a weekly Sunday service at Mountain View Care Center. Attendance has increased among the residents and God is changing lives.

Day 3 – July 5
Prayer for healing:

1 Peter 2:24: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed”

PRAYER:
Father, in Jesus mighty name, we claim Your word concerning healing and health; that we will be strong in our spirits, souls and bodies, equipped to do the work of the ministry. We believe we are healed by the power of Your Word (1 Peter 2:24). The promised word is yes and amen; therefore we declare with great boldness and confidence that we are set free from all infirmity and refuse to tolerate the curse of sickness and all its varying symptoms. We declare wholeness, nothing missing and nothing broken. In the name of Jesus, body be whole!

PRAISE:
The residents continue to be opened and receptive to prayer. Praise God for their ever growing faith.

Day 4 – July 6
Prayer of thanksgiving:
Mathew 18:18: “Verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we give you great praise and thanksgiving for sending Your Son and engrafting us into the family of God with all the benefits and provisions of your children, joint heirs with Jesus.
Amen.

PRAISE:
We continue to thank God for bringing new volunteers to the ministry. We also praise Him for continuing to provide for all of Crossroads’ financial needs.

Day 5 – July 7
Prayer of intercession:

2 Chronicles 7:11-16 - “11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king's house: and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. 12. And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. 13. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer in this place. 16. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.”
PRAYER:
Father, We stand in the gap for Crossroads Ministry. We ask that Your mighty hand be upon this ministry, its leaders, and laborers, and their sphere of influence. As we are prompted to pray, enable us to have your power united with your mercy and grace, as the spirit of the living god leads. Amen.
Principals for effective intercession:
* Praise God. His power is released through praise.
* Confess any sin you have that’s known to you; forgiving so as your prayers are not hindered. Power is released through purity.
* Acknowledge the power of the Spirit of God within you
* Deal aggressively with the enemy using the power of the Word of God.
* Die to your own imaginations; which are the desires for what you feel you should pray, opposed to what God reveals as the core issue and need for prayer.
* Praise God and thank Him in advance for the answers and a great time of prayer.
* Wait before God in silent expectancy; listening for His direction.
* Take action, in faith, according to what God has shown you. It is promised, “Ask and you shall receive”!
* Your Bible is the confirmation of His word.
When nothing else comes to mind, thank and praise God for what He has shown you, knowing that from Him and through Him are all things… To God be the glory!

Day 6 – July 8
Pray encouraging scriptures about prayer:
Philippians 4:6: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
Matthew 10:29,31: “29. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And not one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father’s will. 31. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
1 Peter 5:7: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
2 Chronicles 30:18-19: “18. For a multitude of the people, many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one 19. And prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though not according to the purification of the sanctuary.”
Luke 5:16: “And he withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed.”
PRAISE:
We praise God for volunteers like Dirk P. and his church group who visit Cedarwood Care Center spending time praying with the residents, both as a group and individually.

Day 7 – July 9
Forgiveness:
PRAYER:
Dear heavenly Father; We thank you for the sacrifice of Your Son who stood in the gap for our sins, took our punishment upon himself, and became our sacrifice; which wiped out our sin and made us cleansed, and whole, washed whiter than snow by the blood of the Lamb who was slain for our transgressions; we are now totally forgiven. As we confess our sin, repent from the sin by turning away from it and everything associated with it; we ask you to cleanse us from any tormenting thoughts or memories, even good memories of sin, of the event, and heal our mind, will, and emotions of the effects of it. Help us walk out repentance and bring others we may have hurt or offended because of this transgression into healing by our surrendered heart towards You and with godly sorrow, by Your leading. Father, I break agreement with all words of curse spoken over me or by me regarding this offense, and I forgive myself, the other person, and You, God for any belief I have established that falsely places any blame on You. Father, I cancel their debt to me and trust You to be my advocate, healer, provider, and vindicator. As I receive Your forgiveness in my heart, I thank You for the ability to forgive my offender, and I now choose to turn away from the hurt, offense, resentments, bitterness and judgments I’ve held on to towards this offense. Thank you for healing and forgiving me Lord God Almighty. Amen.
PRAISE:
We rejoice over the news of a resident who was angry with her children for moving her out of her home in Texas (she had fallen several times and even sustained a brain injury) and placing her in a care center in Colorado (near her two children). Because of prayer and a Crossroads’ chaplain, she was able to come to realize that she needed the additional care and through intense physical therapy, was able to leave the center and move into her daughter’s home. The entire family is whole, loving God and loving each other.

Day 8 – July 12
Pray for favor:

Proverbs 3:4-8, 13, 17, 19, 21: “4. So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. 13. Happy the man findeth wisdom, and the man getteth understanding. 17. Her ways ways of pleasantness, and all her paths peace. 19.The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. 21. My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:. 23. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.”

PRAYER:
Father, we pray for the leaders of Crossroads Ministries, Kay and Jerry Owen; that they have your wisdom, understanding and knowledge. That your favor would go before them and that you would be their rear guard. We pray that you give them everything they have need of in their personal lives, as well as what they need to bring the fulfillment of the vision you have given them for this ministry. In Jesus name, Amen.

PRAISE:
Although Jerry continues to struggle with his health, we know that God has kept His hand on him. We praise God for Jerry’s determination to keep going and working for the Kingdom.

Day 9 – July 13
Prayer for the Crossroads Ministries Board of Directors:

PRAYER:
Father, we pray for these mighty men and women of God. Their service to Crossroads has not been without sacrifice. Lord, we specifically lift up those who have been struggling with health issues. We proclaim complete healing for each of them and thank you for the doctors and medical care you have provided for them. Thank you for protecting Cindy N. and Diane P. during their recent surgeries.
We also ask a hedge of protection around them and their families. As they care for aging parents and siblings, provide them with an added measure of Your grace. Use them as Your vessels of ministry. Provide for each of them financially, spiritually, emotionally and professionally. That they may be light in darkness and advocates for Crossroads Ministries wherever they go. Thank you bringing together such a wonderful group of men and women to work alongside and provide advice and counsel for Kay and Jerry. Amen.

PRAISE:
After almost two years of seeking employment, Kellie V. is now working full-time at a local Christian ministry. God is in time, on time, every time.

Day 10 – July 14
Prayer for Jerry and Kay, founder and Director
Isaiah 45:1: “Thus saith the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut”
John 15:5: ”He who abides in me and I in Him, bears much fruit.”

PRAYER:
Father, We come boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy, healing, and your peace. We declare in the Mighty name of Jesus, that Jerry is healed, from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. Body, we command you to be whole; nothing missing, nothing broken, and nothing added that’s not of God. We claim that every one of the doctors have your wisdom and knowledge and do nothing more and nothing less than Your best.
We pray the peace of God over Kay as she attends to Jerry and everything that is associated with Crossroads Ministries; asking specifically for favor with the leaders of the churches and that they receive the heart and call to come alongside Crossroads Ministries and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

PRAISE:
We have received great reports from the Legacy group at Woodmen Valley Chapel and their continued involvement with visitation and singing at the Union Printers’ Home. After each visit, they leave the residents happy and enjoying the joy of the Lord.

God's Call and Vision for 2010 And Beyond...

God’s Call and Vision for 2010

The call and vision this year and in the years to come is based on the first eight chapters of Nehemiah. There are some key words that the Lord has given to us as a ministry that I would like to share with you.

Key Words:
Build a wall of protection for the elderly
Praying
Compassion
Godly Leadership
Cooperation
Perseverance
Courage
Work
Tenacity
Weeping
Joy
Service

“…If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ…” 1Peter 4:11b-NIV

As we look at this verse, the reason we serve in ministry is so that “….in all things God may be praised…” 2010 has many things on its plate; mid-term election, unemployment, the housing market, possible conflict with Iran, more “problems” that can keep us distracted and things that will affect our lives in many ways. There are many concerns in our current society that will take our time, effort and our resources, but many of them are distractions that will take us away from the main call of our work for the Lord. The concern is that we will be carried away by the cares of the world from the main objective the Lord has given to us.

Our CALL this year is based on Nehemiah. We are to “Cast the Vision” to as many as possible but it must start with us. Nehemiah shows Godly leadership by his fasting and praying and confidence in God’s purpose. He also shows a self-sacrificing spirit whose only interest is God’s purpose and the call of God on his life and those he is influencing. God chose a man whose heart was right and who had a clear perception on the issues, placing him at the right place at the right time, equipping him with His Spirit and sent him forth to do exploits. We are that “man”.

Nehemiah had a heart and burden to rebuild the wall in Jerusalem. Chapter three reveals a remarkable display of unity. The reconstruction of the walls was a tremendous challenge (not unlike what we are facing in our ministry). Some 40 groups were working on the wall; this shows the unity of purpose and work that should be characteristic of our ministry.

In chapter four, warfare is imminent; there are those arising up to fight Nehemiah but there are also those fighting with him. Like Nehemiah, we can ignore those opposed to us and trust God for victory. We should realize that all spiritual ministry involves spiritual warfare. Be prepared for battle, quick to aid those who are under attack. The enemy tries to discourage some whose dedication is waning, but those who are strong for the Lord’s purpose redouble their efforts. They add weapons to their assortments of tools (What weapons do we need to add to our tools?). For the project of rebuilding the wall to succeed, the people had to continue with right attitude and right action--and so must we.

Chapter five finds Nehemiah dealing with oppression. The poor inside of the walls had found a champion in Nehemiah for their cause (like Nehemiah, we are the champions for the elderly).

Soon, in chapter six, distraction came calling. Nehemiah said, “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?” Four times the call came to come down, but each time Nehemiah said NO. Because of the many distractions that the enemy sends our way, we have to have our spiritual eyes and ears open in order not to be swayed by their call. Nehemiah said, “For they are trying to make us afraid, saying, 'their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done.' Now, therefore, O God, strengthen my hands," Neh.6:9 Pray that our responses in demanding situations will be like Nehemiah’s, O God, strengthen my hands.

Many things surround us that are a distraction to get our focus off of the work God has called us to do at Crossroads. Our first work is to bring salvation, hope and purpose to our residents, their families and the staff of the care centers. Secondly, we are called to mature those in our influence; Board, chaplains, volunteers, Crossroad’s staff and donor champions.
While we are called to be mindful of things going around us, to walk in prayer over those things, we cannot lose the call of the work the Lord has given us.

Joy and thanksgiving must become our main-stay as we continue to accomplish God’s work. Dedicating our work to the Lord, knowing it is He who gives all success and progress. Wisdom knows that the Lord is the source of any spiritual advancement. At the same time be aware that no such progress will go unopposed--we will incur spiritual opposition--sometimes expressed through human agencies.

Like Nehemiah, we need to gather others together to do the work the Lord has given us to do; those who have a heart and mind to work. There are four lasting principles that were involved in Nehemiah’s life that should sum up our lives as well.

- First, compassion is often the springboard of obedience to God’s will.

- Second, cooperation with others is required to carry out God’s will.

- Third, confidence in the results that comes from prayer, fasting and the Word of God as these three things will reveal God’s will to us.

- Fourth, courage will manifest itself as tenacity in refusing to compromise on the conviction that one is doing God’s will.

“And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also the king’s words that he had spoken to me. So they said, 'Let us rise up and build.' Then they set their hands to this good work." Neh. 2:18

Pursue Your Victory

“But thanks to God, who gives us the victory (making us conquers through our Lord Jesus Christ)” 1Corinthians 15:57 AMP

The year 2010 is going to be a very important year for all of us, so I would like to take a look at the two words:pursue and victory. It does not matter the challenge you face this year, keep these two words foremost in your mind.

Pursue means to chase, go or run after, continue, push, preserve, strive for, seek, or go in search of. There are many adjectives to encourage us to pursue the Lord this year and expect victory in your life.

Victory means to overcome, to conquer and to be victorious. When you pursue your victory, your faith is involved. Faith believes and focuses on proclaiming God’s word without reservation. Remember that Almighty God is greater than any obstacle or challenge that you can face! Now is the time to keep moving forward in the pursuit of your victory; expecting God to move in your life, all the while making preparations to succeed in every area of your life.

Begin speaking God’s word over your life, the life of your spouse, your children, grandchildren, and all of the other lives that are in the sphere of your influence. “See how the farmer waits expectantly for the precious harvest from the land.” (James 5:7 AMP). As we speak God’s word, be as expectant as the farmer is in James to reap your harvest in victory. Never give up! Continue steadfast in pursing your victory.

Settle in your heart and mind that God is a faithful God and He will keep His word. Don’t limit God with your thinking patterns. He waits to hear your words and fulfill them. Pursue your victory this new year in Christ.

“For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

Leave a comment and let us know about your victories this year. We'd love to rejoice with you. We'd also be honored to pray with you about your pursuits.

2009 Year-End Praise and Prayer Report

What an Awesome God we serve!

PRAISE
This has been a very blessed year at Crossroads Ministries. We praise the Lord for all of you. Through you we have seen many miracles happen. Many people have accepted the Lord as their Savior this year; some have been healed, families restored, and many encouraged. You are truly Champions!!

We are enjoying our new office….it has given Jerry and me some time to ourselves. We are thankful for six months of free rent! If you have not come by to visit the new office, we would love to see you. The address is 5585 Erindale Dr., Suite 101, Colorado Springs, CO 80918.

Our new Crossroads Chaplaincy School has been very good this year. Our students are growing and hearing the call of God on their lives.

Many new volunteers have become involved this year. They are so faithful to visit the residents. I praise God for them. Without them we could not accomplish the mission the Lord has given to us.

We are so thankful for all of our Champion Donors. You are amazing! Month after month, year and year, you are faithful to the cause of the elderly.

“Operation Golden Christmas” has been so successful this year. The residents have been very blessed as well as the volunteers who were able to visit with them. Thanks to all of you for being involved in so many different ways. Bless you!!

PRAYER NEEDS
Please pray for the continued health of our staff, our Board and their families, our volunteers, Chaplaincy students, and especially for the residents that we care for. Also pray for the families of the residents and the staff of the care centers.
Pray for additional committed volunteers. Also pray that additional churches will partner with Crossroads because the fields are “white for harvest” in our communities’ care centers.

We will be involved in a number of new projects for the elderly in 2010. Please pray that funds will continue to grow to cover the expenses of these projects.
Pray for the final details to be worked out in opening the Florida office.

YEAR-END REPORT
Crossroads Ministries continues to grow each year as we reach out to so many of the forgotten and lonely elders who reside in our communities’ care centers. Many volunteers have been added, along with additional Chaplains. We now have Chaplains in four care centers and volunteers in over twenty. Our income has increased as the needs have grown-–and will continue to grow–-especially over the next few years. Many have given sacrificially to Crossroads this year in order that additional care center residents could be reached with the Gospel message of love and find salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The numbers are not yet complete for “Operation Golden Christmas”, 2009. So far we have delivered over 6000 gifts to the residents of the care centers, and the staffs of several care centers have been blessed with goody baskets. A full report will be given in our January Newsletter.

In 2009 we shared stories from our volunteers, chaplains and residents. We hope you have enjoyed them but we also want you to know there are many more stories to hear and share. We would love for you to be a vital part of this sharing.

I’m asking for God’s glory and grace to overflow to you in 2010. I’m asking that the days ahead will be the most exciting and blessed that you have ever known. Then I remember another scripture, “The Lord our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey.” (Joshua 24:24) and in my heart I always want to obey the Lord.

So….no matter what is going on in my life--or the life of someone I love--I am called to walk in joy and thanksgiving. The Bible is filled with scriptures that tell us to walk in thanksgiving. We should make it a habit to read and mediate on these scriptures not just at Thanksgiving but all year long. One scripture that comes to mind is, “Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and bless His name.” Psalm 100: 4 (NLT) There is a song that is one of my favorites. I would like to share some of the words with you. Give thanks with a grateful hear. Give thanks to the Holy One. Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son. And now, let the weak say, “I am strong,” Let the poor say, “I am rich because of what the Lord has done for us.” Give thanks. (Author-Henry Smith)

God has been so good and faithful to me no matter is happening with me or the circumstances surrounding my life. I am called by God to walk in praise and thanksgiving and it has changed my life and filled my heart with joy. It can do the same for you. Happy Thanksgiving!!

“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:19, 20

Volunteer Training Class

Ever wondered, "But what can I do?
